Supported Learning
At Great Lakes College Senior Campus, we are proud to have a dedicated and highly skilled Learning Support Team committed to helping every student thrive. Our team works collaboratively with staff, students, and families to ensure that all learners have access to the support they need to reach their full potential.
Supported Learning
At Great Lakes College Senior Campus, our Supported Learning classes provide a nurturing, inclusive environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of students requiring additional support. We offer a range of specialised classrooms led by qualified Inclusive Education Teachers and supported by skilled School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), where students are guided through individualised programs aligned with their Individualised Learning Plans (ILPs). With smaller class sizes, our Supported Learning faculty provides more individualised attention and targeted support to help each student thrive.
Our Supported Learning classes offer:
- Differentiated and personalised curriculum outcomes options across all Key Learning Areas
- Personalised learning pathways based on student strengths and goals, including mainstream access
- Targeted social skills, emotional regulation, and wellbeing programs
- Work readiness and transition-to-work initiatives
- Ongoing collaboration with families and external agencies to provide holistic support
- A strong focus on building respectful relationships, fostering independence, and promoting student success
We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and high-expectations learning environment where every student can achieve their personal best. Supported Learning classes are a regional resource, and placement is offered through an application process. If you think a Supported Learning Placement may be the best fit for your child, please contact your current school or Great Lakes College Forster Campus to discuss further.
The Learning Support Team provides:
- Personalised learning adjustments tailored to individual student needs
- Case management and monitoring of student progress through Individualised Learning Plans and Individual Behaviour Support Plans (ILPs & IBSPs)

- In-class support and targeted intervention programs

We are committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
